Daring thrill-seekers invited to take part in London Ambulance Charity fundraising abseil

London Ambulance Charity is inviting Londoners to take part in an adrenaline-pumped challenge and abseil 42 metres off one of London’s famous football stadiums.

Thrill-seekers will scale Tottenham Hotspurs football stadium on Friday 14 March before they take the plunge and descend off the edge of the stadium roof – and all for a great cause!

Thrill-seekers are invited to take part in the heart-racing challenge on Friday 14 March.

Whether participants choose to descend backwards facing away from the stadium or take the ultimate thrill and face outwards as you travel down to the ground in the London Ambulance Charity Big Stadium abseil, those taking on this heart-pounding thrill will support the work of our life-saving paramedics and incredible efforts of the London Ambulance Service.

Rakesh Patel, Chief Finance Officer at London Ambulance Service, has been a lifelong fan of the Tottenham Hotspur team.

He said: “This is a really fun and exhilarating experience for those with enough daring to take on the challenge. All money raised for London Ambulance Charity will make a huge difference to us and the people of London – it will help fund life-saving defibrillators in the areas of the capital that need them most, and support our hard-working staff and volunteers. I have been a huge fan of the team for such a long time and I know this will give all those participating a great opportunity to see this amazing stadium from a whole new perspective. So, whether you’re a Spurs fan or not, we’d urge you to join us for the Big Stadium abseil!”

The challenge will raise money to support wellbeing initiatives for LAS staff and volunteers.

Dr Jessica Burgess, Head of Charity Development for the London Ambulance Charity, said: “The abseil is set to be a memorable event offering breath-taking views of the stadium.

“So if you are brave enough, sign up and join us for a thoroughly exciting adventure in our beautiful city.”

The abseil will take place at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium in north London. It is open to 100 participants and will involve climbing 100 steep steps before abseiling off the edge of the stadium. As well as being home to Spurs football club, the ground has also hosted music legends including Beyoncé, Pink and Guns N’ Roses – so participants will be following some very famous footsteps.

The money raised will support the London Heart Starters campaign, which aims to raise funds for 200 additional defibrillators – a vital piece of life-saving equipment that can be used by members of the public should someone have a cardiac arrest – as well as support wellbeing initiatives for LAS staff and volunteers.

You can read more about the London Heart Starters campaign, and find out which areas of London are ‘defib desserts’ due to the limited access to defibrillators in the area, here.

If you are interested in supporting the charity’s vital work by taking on this adrenaline-fuelled challenge, please register for the event here. A registration fee of £25 per person will apply. Participants taking part in the event are asked to raise £100 for charity.
