Medics attend Downing Street event
Yesterday evening (Wednesday 2 June) nearly 30 of our medics attended a special event at 10 Downing Street which was organised to recognise the hard work of the London Ambulance Service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The medics, who were nominated by their local sectors and teams, spent an hour and a half in the famous house’s garden and were greeted by the Prime Minister, his new wife and their son.
The Prime Minister gave a short speech and the medics were given a tour of the Cabinet Room, where meetings of the Government’s Cabinet take place.
The team also got to have photos taken outside the house’s famous black door.
Staff and volunteers from across the Service have been invited to a number of events over the last year to thank them for their response to the pandemic.
This includes two visits by HRHs The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, events with Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, a visit from the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and a visit by the Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party.
