Daughter following in parents’ life-saving footsteps after helping save teen crash victim

A teenager from Coulsdon is following in her parents’ footsteps to become a life-saver, after being inspired by her Mum and Dad’s actions in saving a teen crash victim’s life.

Amelia Wilkie, 19, is training to be an Emergency Ambulance Crew with London Ambulance Service.

Amelia was inspired to emulate her parents after she came across a serious road traffic collision outside the family home.

An audit by London Ambulance Service has found that members of the public gave life-saving cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to nearly 2,500 people in the capital.

The NHS was established 70 years ago on 5 July 2018. London Ambulance Service became an NHS Trust in April 1996, having been established to our current formation in 1965 with the merger of nine existing services.

Here we share some stories of people who have worked in our team in the decades since 1948 and some historic photographs of vehicles, stations and uniforms throughout the years.
